LIFE OF JOAN

…. That day that they abandoned the baby was the best thing that could have happened to the small child.

After finishing the bottle of milk, the little girl fell asleep. In this part of the forest, a very large timber wolf lived and daily walked his territory marking his scent. On this day, he was in the area and noticed the white blanket lying on the ground.

Cautiously, he walked up to the blanket and sniffed it. He smelt the baby and looked around. Then he grabbed a mouthful of the blanket and picked up the blanket with the baby in it and walked off into the forest.

A half-hour later, the wolf can upon a log house built in a clearing in a remote area on the shore of the reservoir. He walked up to the main door and set the blanket down on the porch. He barked twice and stood over the baby. A man opened the door and looked out.

“What are you up to,” he asked, looking at the wolf?

The wolf lowered its head while looking at the blanket.

“Oh, my,” he said, bending over and picking up the blanket and the baby.

“Where did she come from,” he said, looking at the wolf?

The wolf pawed the ground several times and barked once.

“And no one was around,” asked the man? “Take me to where you found her.”

The wolf barked twice and headed into the forest.

The man picked up the baby and followed Wolf into the forest. At the far end of the forest where it opened up to the camping area, Wolf stopped at one spot where a few items were sitting on the ground…..
